Exciting assignments

Since coming to South Africa a week ago today, a number of exciting new assignments have come in.

I have been invited to attend a panel on the implementation of the UNESCO Arts Education Road Map in Africa in Tallinn, Estonia. I have also been asked to go up to Kitwe on the Zambian Copperbelt to do some theatre workshops with children and theatre artists.

Then my longtime colleague in theatre and development communications, Titus Moetsabi, who is now stationed in Kabul (!) has suggested that we at long last write up for a prestigious international journal the exciting and potentially best practice participatory theatre communication work we did in the Wills and Inheritance Laws Campaign in Zimbabwe in 2001-2. This  national multi-media campaign was supported by the British agency, DFID, for the Ministry of Justice. Titus's communication consultancy was management agent for the project and we designed and implemented the theatre comms component.

Finally, a theatre critic who wrote for a major newspaper in Johannesburg for many years is planning the publication of a selection of his reviews and has asked me to write an intro.
